Steven R. Fecteau, 1967 - 2017

Steven R. Fecteau, 50, of Auburn, died Sunday, October 15, 2017, in the comfort of his home with his family by his side. He was born in Lewiston on February 10, 1967, the son of Gerard and Geraldine Martin Fecteau. He graduated from Edward Little High School, Class of ‘88. He worked for General Dynamics, Bath Iron Works as a welder for many years. Steven was proud of his occupation. He served as a single father to his son and adored his daughter. He enjoyed watching the New England Patriots and loved to ride his ATV. Survivors include, a son, Cole Fecteau of Auburn and a daughter, Nia Fecteau of Auburn, five brothers, Louis Fecteau and wife Janie of North Carolina, Reginald Fecteau and wife Sue of Buckfield, Richard Fecteau and wife Deb of Auburn, Anthony Fecteau and wife Fran of Minot, and Andrew Fecteau and wife Sharon of Kingfield, a sister, Tina Webster and husband Bob of Leeds, and a sister-in-law, Jennifer Fecteau of Winthrop. 

Anita C. Bedard, 1943 - 2017


Anita C. Bedard, 74, of 32 Deerfield Drive, Sabattus, died at her home on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. Born in Lewiston on July 29, 1943, she was the daughter of Alphonse and Gloria Simoneau Nadeau Jr. Educated in local schools, she married Robert N. Bedard on November 10, 1962. Mr. Bedard passed away on June 14, 2017. She worked for many years as a hand sewer at several local shoe shops. Always very good with her hands, she was talented at making crafts, blankets, and crocheting. A member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, she is survived by two sons, Ricky and wife Alarice of Manchester, and Normand of New Auburn, three brothers, Maurice Nadeau and wife Claudette of Monmouth, Raymond and wife Anita Nadeau of Wales, and Gerald and wife Linda Nadeau of Sabattus, five sisters, Theresa Bourgoin of Auburn, Claudette Vaillancourt of Lewiston, Lorraine Fournier of Lewiston, Jacqueline Demers of Auburn, and Marianne and husband Richard Bergeron of Lewiston, three grandchildren, Amanda Saunders, Nicholas Bedard, and Brynna Bedard, and two great-grandchildren, Folken and Raydon Saunders. …

Richard P. Maurer, 1929 - 2017

Richard Paul Maurer, 88, died peacefully October 15 in the presence of his family in Lewiston, Maine. He is survived by his children Anthony, Richard Jr., and Teresa and their spouses, 7 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, 2 sisters and a brother. One of 8 children of Leroy and Mildred Maurer, Richard was born February 2, 1929, in East Longmeadow, MA and raised in Springfield. He graduated from Cathedral High School and attended the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, FL; where he met his future wife, Nancy N Dick of Salt Lake City, Utah. They married in 1954 and raised their family in Wilbraham, MA. …

Steven J. Hish, 63, of Jay, Maine, died Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at the Hospice House in Auburn. He was born in Belleville, Illinois on October 12, 1953. He was the son of Joseph and Laverna nee Horschmann-Hish. He attended Okawville Highschool, Year of 1972, and attended college at the University of Maine in Augusta and obtained his associates degree in Sociology. He joined the US Army on July 24th, 1973 as a tank driver and was stationed in Germany on the Berlin Wall till his discharge in 1976. After his discharge, he worked multiple jobs and ended his work career at the Looking Ahead Clubhouse in Lewiston. …

Ruth D. Caron, 97, formerly of 62 McNamara Street, Lewiston, died peacefully Thursday, October 12, 2017, at the d’Youville Pavilion, where she had been a resident for past 7 months. Born in Lewiston on December 4, 1919, she was the daughter of Floyd and Olivette Martel Donnell. She attended Lewiston schools, graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of ‘37. Ruth worked as a winder in the local textile industry, and also worked as an Avon representative, Lewiston Sun Journal, and retired from WS Libbey Company in 1984.  On June 1, 1939, she married Donald Klemanski, who passed away on December 1, 1993. …

Mary Roy, 86, of 29 Delcliffe Lane, Lewiston, died Saturday morning, October 7, 2017, at the Hospice House in Auburn. She was suffering from stroke complications incurred  on September 1, 2016. Mary was a first-generation American, born in New York City to immigrant parents of Irish-Catholic descent. Like many others of that time, her welcoming family home acted as a Grand Central Station to relatives from the old country, arriving in the land of opportunity. The only girl of four children, Mary had a self-described "wonderful childhood" as she also enjoyed the close proximity of a large, fun-loving, extended family, along with the many experiences New York City offered during that nostalgic period. …

Lawrence J. Ray, 92, formerly of 219 Summer Street, Auburn, died Thursday, October 5, 2017, at the Maine Veterans’ Home of Augusta. Born in Lewiston on December 2, 1924, he was the son of Lawrence and Lillian Morse Ray Sr. Educated in local schools, he was a veteran of World War II, joining the Army Air Corp at the age of 17. He served in both B-24 and B-17 bombers as a ball turret gunner, and survived 26 missions over occupied Europe. After the war, he returned home and worked for many years as a hand sewer in the local shoe industry retiring in 1990. On June 20, 1946 he married the former Frances P. …

Jennifer E. Buschmann, 48, of Lewiston, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017 in the comfort of her home with her companion Shawn by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer.  Jenn was born on July 4th 1969, the daughter of Edmund A. and Louise Michaud Buschmann of Lewiston Maine.  She attended local schools and graduated as a consistent honor roll student from Hebron Academy in 1987.  She was a commended student by the National Merit Scholarship Program and earned varsity letters in tennis, track and field, and participated in the Drama Club (set design and construction). …

Jean Guy Vincent, 77, of Lewiston, died on October 1, 2017, at the d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston. He was born in Lewiston on May 26, 1940, the son of Dominique and Cecile Landry Vincent. He graduated from St. Louis Parochial School and Lewiston High School. He belonged to various social clubs, and was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He worked at the Bates Mill for twenty-seven years, and then worked several years in the culinary department of Bates College. He survived by a sister, Jeannine Cyr, and a brother, Gerald and his spouse Diane, five nieces, Patricia and spouse Daniel Langlais, Cathleen and spouse Dean Paquette, Janet Cyr and spouse Caroline Cote, Jeanne Cyr and spouse Marie Lemieux, and Susan and spouse Matt Callahan, one nephew, Daniel Cyr and spouse Steve Bissonette, two great nieces, four great nephews, seven great-great nieces and two great-great nephews. …

Tiannah R. Sevey, 2016 - 2017

On Tuesday April 19, 2016 a beautiful baby girl was born to Taneisha Thomas and Michael Sevey. On Saturday September 23, 2017 she became one of God’s Angels. Tiannah was a happy, cheerful and bright, precious toddler. Her smiles were contagious and would and did melt anyone's heart. Recently, in July she started attending the Promise Early Education Center, The Headstart Program for Androscoggin County. She was just beginning to speak everyone’s name, even learning sign language. Her sisters adored her but then again EVERYONE did. Baby girl...T.
