Anita Roy-van Oosten, 92, of 34 Rackley Drive, Greene, died peacefully on Monday, July 10, 2017, at the Hospice House in Auburn, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Lewiston on February 23, 1925, she was the daughter of Ephrem Z. and Clara Doyon Ouellette. A graduate of Edward Little High School, Class of 1943, she married Roland L. Roy on  January 19, 1946. Mr. Roy passed away in 1995. She married her second husband, Peter van Oosten, on April 4, 1998.. Anita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and  friend. In her younger years she was active in Cub Scouts, and later became active in CIM reading group and a Wednesday prayer group. She worked as a literacy volunteer and  Habitat for Humanity. She was a  member of St. Philip’s Church in Auburn where she was involved in a wide range of ministries. In her younger years, Anita took pleasure in line dancing and Tai Chi classes. Her passion was shopping for bargains and dining out. She enjoyed both of these with her husband Peter just a few days before her passing.  She is survived by her husband, Peter of Greene, her four sons, Paul and wife Patricia of Greene, David and wife Annette of Greene, Steven and wife Kelly of Arundel, and James of Greene, nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her eldest son Michael. 

Funeral Notice

ROY-VAN OOSTEN, Anita, 92, of Greene, died in Auburn Monday, July 10, 2017. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 15, from 4 - 7 PM. Services will be Saturday, July 22, 11 AM, St. Philip’s Church in Auburn. A private internment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anita’s memory to Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, Hospice House Fund, 15 Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston, ME 04240.
