Norman H. Bolduc, 1928 - 2017

Norman H. Bolduc, 88, formerly of 15 South Lisbon Road, Lewiston, and a resident of Schooner Estates in Auburn for the past one and a half years, died Monday, January 23, 2017, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice in Auburn. Born in Fairfield on December 2, 1928, he was the son of John C. and Marie Louise Gagnon Bolduc. As a young man, he developed a love of the Maine woods while working alongside his father cutting lumber. He served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War, and then returned to Maine and for many years worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator, and was a proud member of I.U.O.E. Local 4. …

Bertrand L. Guimond, 77, of 110 Sabattus, Street, Lewiston, passed away in his home on Sunday, January 22, 2017. Born in Frenchville on December 8, 1939, He was the son of Hubald and Yvonne Pelletier Guimond. After serving in the U.S. Army, he went to work as a welder at General Dynamics for over twenty years, and then worked a few years at Bath Iron Works until his retirement. Survivors include three sons, Jeff Guimond of Lewiston, David and wife Gina Aube Guimond of Auburn, and Paul Guimond of Lewiston, a brother, Roger Guimond of Tioga Center, NY, three sisters, Frances Adams of Lewiston, Florence Roy of Hudson, FL, and Lorraine Hughes of Murfreesboro, TN, and a grandson, Christopher Guimond.

Ralph Edward Noel, Jr. died at Maine Medical Center on January 21, 2017 from complications due to Parkinson's disease.  Ralph is survived by his wife, Judith Lessard of Cape Elizabeth, his children Kathleen King (and Hunter) of Poland, Ralph III (and Tammy) of Hebron, and Sean (and Hilary) of Waltham, Massachusetts, and their mother Dorothy Crowley Noel of Auburn.  He is also survived by his brother David (and Vicki) of West Farmington, and sister Carole (and Ralph) Baldwin of Skowhegan, as well as three grandchildren – Jessica (and Randy) Hutchinson, Myles, and Cecelia Noel- two great-grandchildren – Randan and Jamison Hutchinson, and predeceased by a grandson – Nicholas Taylor. …

Dorothy Eileen Kennedy Prince, of Lewiston, passed away at Woodlands Memory Care in Lewiston on Friday, January 20, 2017, at the age of 100. A native of Manchester, N.H., she moved to the Lewiston-Auburn area in 1994. She was a member of the Bates College Class of 1938, attending on full scholarship. She considered her experience at Bates one of the highlights of her life. She worked in Washington, D.C., as a Congressional secretary, and as secretary to the Foreign Service Examining Board, where she met her husband, Edward. This commenced her life as a Foreign Service spouse with the attendant diplomatic duties expected of Foreign Service wives as well as of their husbands. …

Brian Paul LeRiche, 53, passed away unexpectedly from COPD complications on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at his home in Canton. He was born in Lewiston, Maine on June 28, 1963, the son of Alfred Noel LeRiche Jr. and Blanche (Violette) LeRiche, the twelfth of their 13 children. He attended local parochial schools and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1981. There are special memories of Brian, a quiet sweet boy, camping at Hermit Island , swimming at Little Wilson Pond and playing family card and board games before mental illness entered his life.  Be at peace, Brian. …

Elsie F. Ranucci, 85, of 104 Davis Avenue, Auburn, died Friday, January 13, 2017, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Born in Lynbrook, NY, on June 27, 1931, she was the daughter of Henry and Ethel Ryder Roenbeck. Educated in Lynbrook and Malverne, NY, schools, she was a graduate of Malverne High School, Class of ‘49. She worked as a secretary in Mineola, NY, and then in 1952 she married the love of her life, Dominick J. Ranucci. Mr. Ranucci passed away September 26, 2016. Besides her step-daughter, she and Dominick had three daughters and three sons, and by 1966 she was back to work as a medical transcriptionist. …

Maurice Laureat Ouellette, 84, of Central Avenue, Lewiston, died on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Lewiston, on July 10, 1932. The only child of Laureat J. & Marie LeBlanc Ouellette, he received his education at St. Peter & Paul Parochial School graduating in 1948 & St. Dominic High School graduating in 1951. Gertrude Landry Mynahan, known by many friends and family as “Grammy”, passed away on January 7, 2017 following a graceful, dignified fight with Alzheimer’s Disease. Gertrude was born to Antoine and Adrienne Chenard Landry in Lewiston, Maine on May 16, 1928. She and her six brothers and sisters were raised on the City Farm, where her father served as superintendent. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1946. Following her graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper at the Hill Division of the Bates Mill. On September 22, 1951, she married the love of her life, Bernard “Bunny” Mynahan. …

Sylvia B. Day, 88, of Portland, and formerly of Lewiston, died Sunday, January 1, 2017, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. A “leap year” baby, born in Lewiston on February 29, 1928, she was the daughter of Nathan and Ida Silverman Benson. She graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of ’45, and later received a bachelors of science degree from the University of Maine, Orono. On June 26, 1949, she married Charles Day, and for 53 years she was his loving wife until his passing on October 9, 2002. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and enjoyed time spent with her children and grandchildren. …
