Guilda D. Jean, 1931 - 2016

Guilda D. Jean, 85, of 102 Campus Avenue, Lewiston, and for many years a resident of 98 Wood Street, Lewiston, died Monday, March 28, 2016, at St. Mary's D'Youville Pavilion. Born in Lewiston on March 12, 1931, she was the daughter of Sabin and Laura Busier St. Laurent. She was married to Roger F. Jean who died October 9, 1978. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1949. Prior to retirement in 1995, she had been employed at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Survivors include several cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her dear companion of many years, Raymond Thibault, of Lewiston. 

Carol McHenry, 1947 - 2016

Carol A. McHenry, 68, of 5 Angel Street, Lisbon Falls, died Saturday, March 26, 2016, at her home with her loving husband by her side. Born in Plymouth, NC, on September 4, 1947, she was the adopted daughter of Robert and Lucy Wallace. She was raised and educated in Virginia Beach, VA, and moved to Maine later in life. On August 28, 2010, she married Thomas Robinson, and they made their home in Lisbon Falls. Employed as a bartender for many years, she was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, and was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Robinson of Lisbon Falls, a son, James Matthews Jr. of Berwick, two daughters, Denise Bertelli of York, VA, and Lisa Adams and husband Roger of Virginia Beach, VA, a step-daughter, Hollie Robinson of Industry, ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. …

William Jefferson Davis died peacefully on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Illinois at the age of 73. William is survived by his longtime companion of 37 years, Stella Sheleheda, his former wife Louise Carpentier and three children, Debra Davis Smith of New Jersey, Kathleen and husband Kenneth Anderson of Cumberland, Maine and William Jefferson Davis II of North Yarmouth, Maine. In addition, William had 6 grandchildren. William was born on November 4, 1942 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina to Willie Jackson Davis and Elizabeth Maude McCracken -Davis. …

David J. Florio Sr., 72, of Harlow Hill Road, Mexico, Maine died Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Born in Cambridge, MA, on June 9, 1943, he was the son of Vito and Myrtle Moore Florio, and was raised by Myrtle and his step-father, Joseph “Mugsy” Clinton. Educated in Massachusetts schools, he lived and worked in the Boston area for many years, owning his own catering business, Dave’s Canteen. He moved to Maine in the early 1990's. Dave was an avid Patriots fan, loved playing cards, cribbage and whist with his friends and family. …

Rosaire J. Dostie, 92, of Greene, Maine, peacefully passed away on March 20, 2016, at the Hospice House in Auburn, surrounded by his loving children.  He was born in Lewiston on May 13, 1923, the son of Dolor and Mary Ann Lajoie Dostie.  Educated in the Winthrop school system, He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the US Navy from December 7, 1942 to December 28, 1945. On January 29, 1949, he married the love of his life, Julie Allaire, together they raised 5 children.   Before his retirement he worked at Eastern Die and Tambrands. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying archery, hunting, fishing, beekeeping, gardening and woodworking.   …

Jean-Robert Maheu of 15 Robinson Gardens, Lewiston, and formerly of 83 Sixth Street, Auburn passed away on Friday, March 18, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn with his loving family by his side. He was 94 years old. Mr. Maheu was born in St. Joseph-de-Beauce, Quebec, on April 19, 1921, the son of Jean-Thomas and Aurore Maheu. He received his primary and secondary education in parochial and public institutions, Mariste College, Turmel Institute, attended Classical College de Levi, Quebec and two years at Sacred Heart Seminary, St. Victor-de-Beauce, Quebec.  …

Yvette T. Gagnon, 85, of 10 Oak Park, Lewiston, died Monday, March 14, 2016, at the Hospice House in Auburn. Born in Auburn on January 12, 1931, she was the daughter of Archille and Georgiana Poirer Boisvert. Educated in local schools, she worked as a clerk for Liggett’s Drug Store for many years. A member of Ss. Peter and St. Paul Basilica, Prince of Peace Parish, she was known for her sweet and sunny disposition. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Gagnon, three brothers, Henry, Bertrand, and Maurice Boisvert.

Robert C. Gould Sr, of Albany Township, peacefully passed away at the age of 85 at home with his family by his side. He was born in Wakefield, RI, on December 21, 1930, he was the son of Frederick & Dorothy Gould. He attended school in Peacedale, RI. He was employed at the Peacedale Mill and then went to work for the University of Rhode Island for 17 years. He then moved to Albany Township, where he raised game birds until he retired. On September 20, 1952, he married the love of his life, Janet Elizabeth Andrews. They spent 63 wonderful years together. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. …

Roland Boutin, 93, of Lewiston,  passed away at his home on Thursday, March  10, 2016.  Born in Auburn on March 14, 1922, he lived in Lewiston most of his life.  Growing up, he attended St. Mary’s Parish, was a member of St. Mary’s Cadets and enjoyed playing baseball and hockey.  Roland graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of  ’38. Roland married Muguette “Bunny” Bilodeau on June 27, 1942.  During World War II, he was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where he served at Headquarters, 20th Armored Division.  Eventually, his division was credited with liberating Munich, Germany.  …

Jane Johnson, 74, of New Gloucester, died Thursday, March 3, 2016, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn. Born in Carthage, MO, on December 15, 1941, she was the daughter of James and Opal Watts Palmer. Her family moved to California when she was young, and she was a graduate of Manuel Dominguez High School in Compton, Class of ’59. On June 26, 1964, she married Clifford F. Johnson in Compton. She was a stay at home mom up until her son and daughter were in high school and junior high school, and was always there for them when they got home from school, often with freshly baked cookies. …

Marie G. Dennison passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016 at her home and surrounded by her family. She was born January 15,1922, the daughter of Edouard and Emelia Trembley Ouellette. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of Edward Little, and attended Bliss College and Pelletier’s Beauty School. She became a hairstylist at a young age and continued doing hair into her 70s at her shop on Webber Ave. In 1945 she met her future husband Lionel B. Dennison and they married in 1947. They had 25 great years together before he died in 1973, at age 59. She loved music, friends and family, and hosted many large holiday parties/meals at her house. …
