Robert “Bob” Allen, 87, a resident of Auburn, passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston on the evening of Monday, May 29, 2017.  Throughout the day he was surrounded by his wife, his children, and grandchildren, and he passed with his wife and two grandchildren at his side.  Bob was born in Salem, MA, on May 22, 1930,  and graduated from Salem High School.  After graduation, he joined the Navy and served two years. In 1952 the Navy released him in San Diego with $5.00 in his pocket, and he made his way back to Massachusetts.  In 1953, he married Bertha Tetenman and had four children.  …

David W. Collins Jr., 1936 - 2017


David W. Collins, Jr. 80, husband and best friend of 55 years died at home on May 24, 2017 in Old Orchard Beach with his family by his side. Son of David and Ruth V Arnold Collins, he was born in Lewiston on August 3, 1936. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1954, and then went to Kents Hill Prep where he played football, baseball and basketball. He joined the Navy in 1956 and after 4 years was honorably discharged as a Air Controlman Second Class. He returned to Maine and worked as a Bell Captain at the Poland Spring Hotel, that summer he met his future wife Anita. …

Benny Joseph Violette, 90, of 52 Rideout Avenue, Lewiston, died Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his family. Born in Presque Isle on October 20, 1926, he was the son of Francois and Albina (L’Italien) Violette. Educated in Presque Isle and Lewiston schools, he was a veteran of World War II. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and was an electrician's mate on the aircraft carrier USS Boxer of which he is a proud plank owner. Then Benny was assigned to a troop transport ship as an electrician's mate where he became the movie projectionist. …

Gloria B. Branham, 91, formerly of Farmingdale, ME, passed away on May 25th at the Elm Street Assisted Living Center in Topsham, Maine, following a long illness. The daughter of Andrew and Bertha Harness, Gloria was born in Hamlet, Indiana on December 9, 1925, and was one of nine children, all of whom predeceased her.  In 1946, she received her nursing degree at St. Joseph’s Nursing School in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  Four years later, she completed coursework for a psychology major at San Francisco State University, and ultimately in 1975, she earned her B.S. in Education from Oklahoma State University.  …

James E. Rand Sr., 1938 - 2017

James E. Rand Sr., 79, of 157 Pine Street, Lewiston, died Friday, May 12, 2017, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Employed as a roofer for many years, he enjoyed fishing and playing cards with friends. Survivors include three sons, James Jr. of Oakland, and Danny Sr. and Bobby Sr., both of Lewiston, a brother, Maynard Sr. and wife Joanne of Sabattus, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Bob was born 2 Jul 1948 in Winchendon, MA, son of the late William R. Saveall and Bernadette M. (Turmell) Saveall both of Winchendon, MA. He leaves two brothers, William J. Saveall & wife Judith M. (Burrows) Saveall of Woonsocket, RI and Norman C. Saveall & wife Kathleen A. (Huard) Saveall of Leominster, MA.  He also leaves a son Robert Sean Field & wife Carol Spinelli Field of Plaistow, NH. …

Thomas Sullivan, 1939 - 2017


Thomas F. Sullivan, 78, passed away May 4 at Russell Park Manor, with his loving wife, Angel, by his side. He was born in Lewiston on Feb. 13, 1939, the son of Anthony and Germaine Hamel Sullivan. He is survived by his wife, three children, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral Notice

SULLIVAN, Thomas F., 78, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 4. A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Church in Lewiston, followed by prayers at St. Peter's Cemetery Chapel in Lewiston.

Eleanor Boydak Rolerson, 89, formerly of 38 Walker Avenue, Lewiston, and a resident of Schooner Estates in Auburn for the past year, died Monday, May 8, 2017, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Born in Lewiston on March 26, 1928, she was the daughter of John and Mary (Czastska) Boydak. She grew up in New Auburn, and was a graduate of Edward Little High School, Class of ’47. On July 23, 1949, she married Grover E. Rolerson. Mr. Rolerson passed away on March 21, 2002. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a School Secretary at Farwell Elementary,  Lewiston Junior High, and Montello Junior High schools. …

Marion W. Pinard, 67, of 16 Bowdoinham Road, Sabattus, died Friday, May 5, 2017, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. Born in Lewiston on October 5, 1949, she was the daughter of Irving and June Wagg Wheeler. Educated in Lisbon schools, she was a graduate of Lisbon High School, Class of ’67. On October 22, 1976, she married the love of her life, Leo R. Pinard Jr. For many years, she was employed as a cafeteria worker at Oak Hill High School. Besides time spent with family and friends, she loved to garden and feed the birds around her home in Sabattus. …
