Muriel Y. Bonin, 89, of 12 Goffee Street, Lewiston, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at her home on Wednesday, June 26, 2013.  Born in Lewiston on June 19, 1924, the daughter of Emile and Yvonne Laflamme Cailler. Educated in local schools, she worked at area mills during her younger years, including the Pepperell Mill. On September 25, 1948, she married Emile L. Bonin, the love of her life, who passed away on May 11, 2000. A member of SS. Peter & Paul Basilica, Prince of Peace Parish, and to the Ladies of St. Anne. She enjoyed knitting slippers and socks for everyone, cooking, and had a love for holidays, especially 4th of July and Christmas.  …

Ursula R. Marcotte, 97, widow of Dr. Yvon W. Marcotte, formerly of 18 Novella Street, Lewiston, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Nursing Home in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Born in Upper Frenchville, ME, on August 21, 1915, she was the daughter of Belone J. and Marie Labrie Roy. She attended Holy Rosary Parochial School in Upper Frenchville and Mount Merici Academy in Waterville. She was further educated at St. Mary’s General Hospital in Lewiston, where she was employed for five years as a Medical Technician. Mrs. Marcotte was a past president and member of the St. …

AUBURN — Gregory R. Michaud, 29, of 30 Stevens Mills Road, Auburn, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 19, at his home, where he resided with his father. He was born in Lewiston, Oct. 9, 1983, the son of Greg and Sheila Michaud. He was well-known for his beautiful smile and sense of humor. He worked as a laborer in general construction most of the time. He was a "chip off the old block" most would say. As an avid fisherman, he loved the outdoors as well as dirt biking, four-wheeling, camp fires and just being outdoors. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and adored his son. …

Philip Isaacson, 1924 - 2013



AUBURN- Philip Isaacson lived an extraordinarily rich and vibrant life.  At age 88, he worked full-time at his law firm, traveled to Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, skied challenging terrain in the Rockies, wrote his regular newspaper column on art and architecture, and devoted time to his family and many friends.  He passed away June 20, 2013,  at age 89.

Fred Leavitt Riley, of Auburn, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 9, 2013, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn. He was 94. Mr. Riley was born in Lewiston on March 23, 1918, the son of John and Madge Leavitt Riley. He was a graduate of Lewiston High School and Bates College, Class of ’39. Following graduation from Bates, he was employed as a chemist by the DuPont Chemical Company at several munitions facilities throughout the south for the duration of World War II. Shortly after the war, Fred started a career with the Brown Paper Company, where he eventually became the general superintendent of their mill in Berlin, NH. …

Mildred T. Milliken, 87, formerly of 659 Webster Street, Lewiston, passed away at Marshwood Nursing Home on June 17th, 2013, where she resided for the past 13 months. She was born in Sidney, Maine, on September 18, 1925, the daughter of Annie Murray and Erwin S. Targett Sr. She graduated from Flagstaff High School in 1943. She worked in shoe shops for many years before entering the new and emerging electronics field at Raytheon in the early 1960’s. She retired from Maine Electronics as an engineer. She had many hobbies including cooking, fishing, bowling, quilting, gardening, golf and snowmobiling. …

Irene A. Gauthier, 88, of 35 Raiche Street, Lewiston, died at her home on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. Born in Lewiston on July 19, 1924, she was the daughter of Omer and Armosa Dubois Mathieu. Educated in local schools, she married J. Paul Gauthier on June 8, 1946. Mr. Gauthier passed away on October 4, 1999. A talented seamstress, she worked for many years Star Millinery & Cloak Store on Lisbon Street in Lewiston. A member of Holy Family Church, Prince of Peace Parish, she also belonged to the Lewiston Senior Citizens, and enjoyed playing Beano, Pinochle, and cards with her family and many friends. …
