Constance G. Currie, 1921 - 2015

Constance G. Currie, 93 of Auburn, died September 25th at her home with her family by her side.  Born in Van Buren, Maine, November 21, 1921, the seventh child of seventeen, to Thomas and Gertrude (Gagnon) Ouellette. She was a resident of the Lewiston and Auburn community since coming to Nursing School in 1940.  She graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in 1943 at the top of her class, and the first in the State. In June of 1944 she was married to Merrill T. Currie at St. Joseph’s Church in Lewiston. Throughout her career she worked in various Nursing capacities, the last 25 years in Supervision at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center. …

Ralph Jones, 71, of 74 Lake Auburn Avenue, died Thursday September 17, 2015, at home. Born in Providence, Rhode Island on December 29, 1943, he was the son of Allison and Margaret Fisher Jones. He was educated in Providence schools, and worked as a painter for most of his life both self employed and, for many years, for Robinson & Associates. He moved to the local area over 20 years ago in order to be closer to his children. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and loved horse racing and gambling. Ralph is survived by two sons, Ralph Hudson and wife Tonya of Plato, MO, John Jones and girlfriend Judy Mitchell of Auburn, a daughter, Bobbi Jo Lyons and husband Danny, of Auburn, his sister Florence Kidd, and brothers John and Robert Jones. …

Monique Marie Hamann, 1971 - 2015



Monique Marie Hamann, 44, died Friday evening, September 18, 2015, at 5:20 PM, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn, after having had cancer for 2 years. Monique was born February 22, 1971, the daughter of Laurier Jean and Muriel (Caron) Hamann.

In 1989, she graduated from Lewiston High School, in 1998 she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Textile Merchandising and Design with a double minor in Fashion Merchandising and Business Management from Middle Tennessee State University.

Her working career began in high school and beyond when she worked 6 years for Shaw’s.

Muriel S. Martin, 1927 - 2015

Muriel S. Martin, 88, of 40 Hamel Street, Lewiston, died Sunday September 6, 2015, at the d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston. She passed after rehab, following surgery due to a fall, during which she never lost her sense of humor and her loving heart.  She remained grateful to those caring for her, and her warm heart reached out to many people, both in d’Youville in in the Lewiston community. She was born in Lewiston on February 11, 1927, the daughter of Leon and Blanche Garand Marois. Educated locally, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of ’45. She worked as a waitress in the family business, Marois Restaurant, where she was a fixture right up until the restaurant closed in 2003. …

Fernand D. Gosselin Sr., 1949 - 2015

Fernand D. Gosselin Sr., 65, of 4 Mitchell Street, Lewiston, died Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at the Central Maine Medical Center, following a brief illness. Born in Lewiston on October 7, 1949, he was the son of Dewey and Rosa Querti Gosselin. Educated in local schools, he married the former Mona E. Dallaire on July 26, 1969. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, and after returning to Lewiston he went to work for Hahnel Bros.  for several years. He later went on to work at Bath Iron Works for over 35 years, retiring in October of 2012. Fern was an avid outdoorsman, and he loved to hunt and fish. …
