Theresa J. Evrard, 1936 - 2015

Theresa J. Evrard, 79, formerly of 31 Cote Street, Lewiston, and a resident of Clover Manor in Auburn for the past year, died Thursday, October 29, 2015, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Lewiston on April 13, 1936, she was the daughter of Maurice and Juliette Paradis Turcotte. Educated in local schools, she worked at the Bates Mill, Rockingham Electric, and retired from Tambrands at the age of 61. On December 18, 1970, she married Walter Evrard, who passed away in 2007. A member of Holy Cross Church, Prince of Peace Parish, she enjoyed Square dancing, hunting, fishing, Beano, Saturday night’s playing scat with her brother Dick and his wife Anita, and in the last year greatly enjoyed doing crafts with the other residents of Clover Manor. …

Nancy M. Cote, 1934 - 2015

Nancy M. Cote, 80, of 229 Scribner Boulevard, Lewiston, died Thursday, October 22, 2015, at the Marshwood Nursing Home in Lewiston. She was born in Lewiston on November 25, 1934, the daughter of Edward and Olive Martin Hiltunen. Educated in local schools, she married Robert Cote on May 8, 1958. Mr. Cote passed away on January 3, 2014. Prior to her retirement, she worked at several different shoe shops, including Supreme Slipper and Jones & Vining,  and also worked for Hillcrest Farms and a local egg producer. She was very family oriented, and enjoyed baking and knitting for her family. …

Benoit "Benny" Beaulieu, 91, of 388 Grove Street, Lewiston, passed away on October 25, 2015, at his home with his loving wife by his side.

     Born in Lewiston on January 12, 1924, he was the son of Nazaire and Helena Bourgoin Beaulieu.  He attended school in Lewiston and worked on his parent's dairy farm until he met and married the love of his life, the former Lucina Gosselin.  They purchased their own farm where they raised their four children.  He was a very hard working, humble, kind-hearted, generous, and happy man.

He was a skilled machinist, and retired from Philip Elmet Corp. in 1986. …

Isabelle Bonneau, 92, of Lewiston, passed away at the d’Youville Pavilion in the comfort and care of her friends, family and wonderful attentive caregivers, on Saturday, October 24, 2015. Born at home in Lewiston to Charles W. Tartre and Judith Choquette Tartre on January 8, 1923 during a harsh blizzard. Isabelle would joke that when she was little, she felt she wasn’t worth as much as her brothers and sister who were born in a hospital. Family and friends delighted in her wit and humor.

  She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1941. Continuing her love of literature and Spanish and always the lifelong learner, Isabelle attended LA Community College and the University of Southern Maine. …

Jacqueline P. Letendre, 1923 - 2015

Jacqueline P. Letendre, 91, formerly of 6 Tucker Street, Lewiston, died Saturday, October 17, 2015, at the d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston, where she had been a resident for the past year. Born in Lewiston on October 21, 1923, she was the daughter of Senator Jean C. and Carmelle Grenier Boucher. She was educated at Holy Family School and Lewiston High School, graduated from Bates College in 1956, and then went to graduate school at Bryn Mawr and Simmons colleges, earning a Masters Degree. She worked for many years as a social worker, starting at the Department of Human Services offices in Lewiston, and then in Boston at the International Adoption Agency. …

Louise D. Nadeau, 1917 - 2015

Louise D. Nadeau, 98, of 20 Great Falls Plaza, Auburn, passed away Friday, October 9, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice  after a very brief illness.

She was born August 6, 1917, in Auburn, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Demers Chaput. She was educated in local schools. She worked in local mills until her early 40’s when she moved to Pamona, California and married her husband, Theodore Nadeau. 

There she worked as a crossing guard, and they returned to Maine after their retirement. 

She was a member of Holy Cross Church, Prince of Peace Parish. …

On the afternoon of September 29, Elaine Libbey Holman, 93, passed away at her home in Falmouth, attended by family. Elaine was known for her sharp mind and her welcoming generosity. She was a woman who lived by her principles and always treated others with dignity and respect. She encouraged those around her to live life to the fullest, and to have faith and hope in the essential goodness of life. It was a winning plan, and those fortunate to have spent time with her benefited greatly.
