William N. Lafleur, 1931 - 2013

William N. Lafleur, 82, of Lewiston, died Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at his residence. Born in Rumford on July 22, 1931, he was the son of William F. and Yvette Beaudry Lafleur. Educated locally, he joined the U.S. Army in 1948. He served in Korea, Vietnam, and in the Army of Occupation in Germany before retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 2 in 1968. Following his military service, he worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for twenty more years before retiring. He is survived by a granddaughter, Sarah Reddick of Bartlett, TN, a grandson, John Goelz of Bartlett, TN, a son-in-law Jack Goelz of Bartlett, TN, two brothers, Gerard of Connecticut, and Richard of California, a sister, Claire Lapham of Virginia, two great-grandsons, Parker and Logan Haase, and numerous nieces and nephews, especially Ray and Carol Spencer, who he was very close to.  …

Violette N. “Vi” Barriault, 1924 - 2013

Violette N. “Vi” Barriault, 89, a resident of Schooner Estates, and formerly of 105 Upland Road, Lisbon, passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, November 17, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lewiston on October 27, 1924, the daughter of Arthur and Augustine Therriault Nadeau. She was married to Fernand J. Barriault on June 22, 1946, at Holy Family Church in Lewiston. She was a former communicant at SS. Peter & Paul Basilica in Lewiston, and St. Anne’s in Lisbon. Vi graduated from Lewiston High School in 1943, and was a member of the patronesses.  …

Kum Ok White, 1948 - 2013

Kum Ok White, 65, of Lewiston, passed away on November 11 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, surrounded by her family after a brief and sudden illness.  She was born on March 8,1948, in Inchon, South Korea to Pil Su Kwon and Chong Mo Son.  She had two brothers and three sisters who lived in South Korea and California.  She immigrated to the U.S. in 1979 and lived in several states before residing in Maine.


She is survived by her daughters, Judy White and Susan Faunce, her son-in-law, Jim Faunce, and her granddaughters, Rosemary and Beatrice.  She was a loving mother who devoted her life to raising her daughters.  …

Patricia M. Bissonette, 82, of 20 Hutchinson Street, Lewiston, died Saturday, November 9, 2013 at her home, following a brief illness. Born in Lewiston on September 18, 1931, she was the daughter of Charles and Regina Arseneault Roberts. Educated in local schools, she  attended  Lewiston High School. On September 1, 1951, she married the love of her life, Real ‘Ray” Bissonette, at St. Joseph’s Church in Lewiston. A dedicated homemaker, she also worked for many years at Clark Shoe and Bates Fabrics. She was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting and crocheting, was an enthusiastic Bingo Player, and was known for her delicious baked goods. …

Joseph S. Cronin, 91, of Montello Heights Retirement Community and formerly of 25 Manning Avenue, Lewiston, died on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice Services in Auburn, following a short illness. Born February 8, 1922, the son of Eugene J. and Flora Somers Cronin, he was educated in Lewiston schools, Bowdoin College and Harvard Business School. During World War II, he served three years as a U.S. Navy officer and was stationed in England. He was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Federal Distributors Inc., Lewiston, where he previously served as President for 62 years. …

Marguerite P. Langelier, 101, of Schooner Estates, Auburn, died in her residence on Monday, November 4, 2013. Born in Lewiston on June 29, 1912, she was the daughter of Adelard and Lumina Levesque Langelier. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of Jordan High School, Class of ’30. After graduation, she worked for several years as a clerk at Peck’s Department Store, and then spent over thirty years as the office manager for her brother-in-law, Dr. Maurice Brien. Following Dr. Brien’s retirement, she went to work for the City of Lewiston for three years before retiring herself. in her later years, she lived with her sisters and together they travelled all over the country. …

Romeo Sansoucy, 1923 - 2013

Romeo “Minno” Sansoucy, 90, of Lewiston, died unexpectedly on Sunday, November 3, 2013, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. He was born in Lewiston on February 5, 1923, the son of Napoleon and Lauza Baron Sansoucy. He attended local schools and graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of ’41. On May 9, 1944, he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Jeanette Richard. They were married for 69 years. During his life, “Minno” was a sales executive for WLAM Radio, and later retired from the Lewiston Sun Journal. He was longtime member of Martindale Country Club and later the Poland Spring Country Club. …
