Blanche J. Szott, 1918 - 2015



Blanche J. Szott, 97, formerly of Lewiston, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2015, at the Ledgeview Living Center in West Paris, where she had been a resident for the past several years. Born in Lewiston on February 10, 1918, she was the daughter of Michael and Tekla Krason Szott. Educated locally, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of ’36, and also attended the Richard School of Gregg Shorthand. She was employed as a stenographer in the Marketing and Sales Department of the Maine Central Railroad, subsequently Guilford Transportation Industries, Portland, for nearly thirty years. …

Lucien A. Lagace, 1927 - 2015


Lucien A. Lagace, 88, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, 2015, with family at his side at Russell Park Rehabilitation & Living Center.

He was born in Lewiston on March 18, 1927, a son of J. Alfred and Rose Ilda (Lepage) Lagace.  Lou graduated from Lewiston High School and served in the United States Army, being stationed in Italy for two years. Upon discharge, he attended Portland Technical School.  He founded, owned, and operated Lucien Lagace's Decorating Service in the Lewiston-Auburn area. He was highly regarded for his work, and his motto of "If it's worth doing, it's worth doing well" was manifested in all that work.


Jacqueline C. Drapeau, 1934 - 2015

Jacqueline C. Drapeau, 81, of 858 South Main Street, Auburn, passed away on December 21, 2015, at the Hospice House in Auburn. Born in Lewiston on October 25, 1934, she was the daughter of William G. and Maria Pomerleau Martel. Educated in local schools, Jacqueline worked in local shoe shops for 12 years, and then worked for Pioneer Plastics for many years as a Samples Clerk, retiring in 1997. On November 28, 1963, she married Ronald Drapeau. She will be remembered for her beautiful singing voice, singing in the choir at Holy Cross Church while growing up, and for many years in the choir of St. …

Julia Clabby Terpstra, 90, of 135 Summit Avenue, Lewiston, died at her home on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Lewiston on December 18, 1924, she was the daughter of Patrick H. and Margaret Madden Clabby. Educated locally, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of ’42. She worked for the phone company for a few years, and then on July 3, 1948, she married Arthur Terpstra, and the two made their home in Walpole, MA. Mr. Terpstra passed away in 1996. She had been active in the Walpole VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and upon her return to Lewiston in 1990 she was active in the former St. …

Morris Silverman, 1933 - 2015



Morris Silverman, 82, of Auburn, passed away on December 10, 2015, at the Hospice House in Auburn.

Morris was the son of Louis Silverman and Frances (Brownstone) Silverman. He was a lifelong Lewiston-Auburn resident, graduating from Lewiston High School, and attending University of Maine at Orono before taking over the family clothing business. Morris was a pillar of the local business community, with a retail career that spanned 65 years. His flagship store, Louie’s Clothing, was a fixture on Lisbon Street for approximately 50 years before moving to its current Center Street, Auburn location. …

Richard L. Langelier, 77, of 26 Fox Run Road, Lewiston, died Sunday, December 6, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with heart disease. Born in Lewiston on December 16, 1937, he was the son of Paul and Yvette Roy Langelier. Educated in local schools, he was a graduate of St. Dominic High School, Class of ’56, and later earned a Bachelor of Science from Husson College in 1964. On December 30, 1961, he married the former Anita L. Roux. For many years he worked as an accountant for the Small Business Administration in Augusta, and later at Langelier & Associates in Lewiston, retiring in 2007. …
