Tracy Obit Pic

Carol Ann Tracy, 71, of Celebration, Florida, formerly of Lewiston, Maine, died peacefully in her sleep in Winter Garden, Florida on June 21, 2017.  She was born on January 25, 1946, in Lewiston, Maine to the late Roland and Rita Fortier Lajoie. She attended the Holy Family School, graduated from Lewiston High School with the class of 1963 and attended the University of Southern Maine. Carol was a longtime devoted resident of the city of Lewiston.  Her dedication to Lewiston and the state of Maine was evident during her career at Model Cities, City of Lewiston, Central Maine Medical Center and Tracy’s Express.  She loved giving back to the community by volunteering in her spare time.  Her roles included president of the Lewiston-Auburn Chamber of Commerce, president of Lewiston’s Planning and Economic Development Division, appointed by the Governor to serve on the Department of Environmental Protection, and was awarded ‘Woman of the Year’ for the city of Lewiston. She launched the first triathlon series, which she headed for several years in Lewiston-Auburn, to celebrate the beautiful twin cities and the revitalization of the Androscoggin River.  When Carol wasn’t working or volunteering, she could be found working in her beautiful flower garden around her house. She is survived by her husband of 50 years Barton; two sons, Christopher and his wife Jeanine of Windermere, Florida, and Tyler and his wife Luzmary of Wilmington, Delaware; two grandsons Miles and Jack; her sister Joan and her husband Roger Champagne; brothers Roland and his wife Dot Lajoie, Peter and his wife Anne Lajoie and Marc and his wife Susan Lajoie; as well as her beloved dog Beau. Carol’s family would like to thank the compassionate staff at Health Central Park where she received incredible care and lots of love during the last several months of her life.
