Chester R. Dulac, 1921 - 2014

Chester R. Dulac, 92, of Lewiston, Maine passed away on April 18, 2014 at D'Youville Pavilion. "Chet" was born on July 25, 1921, the son of Rodolphe and Mora (Arnoldy) Dulac.  He attended Lisbon schools and enlisted in the Navy on August 31, 1942. He proudly served his country during WWII on the destroyer, The USS Lavallette, while engaging the enemy in fierce battles on several occasions. After his discharge from the Navy, he married the former Jeannette Labonte in May of 1945.  Their only child, Richard, was born in April of 1946.  In 1950 "Chet" and his family moved into a new home on Gulf Island Road in Lewiston that he helped build. Jeannette passed away in 1986.  In 1988 he met the former Anita Fortin and they wed in October of that year. Chester worked for many years in the former Continental and Hill mills.  Eventually, he started his own TV repair business, City Wide Electronics, and also had a  tool sharpening business.  In his later years he worked at St. Peter's Cemetery as a groundskeeper. He was a superb vegetable gardener and had a big garden every year.  He loved to fish and hunt and in his early years was an avid and very successful trapper. "Chet" is survived by his wife Anita; his son Richard and wife Garrianne Dulac of Buckfield; three step daughters, Helen and husband John Belisle of Greene; Connie and husband Rev. Dan Michaud of New Gloucester; Pauline and husband Dennis Cote of Brunswick; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Jeannette, a brother Lawrence, and a sister Violet.The family wish to express their thanks and appreciation to the nurses and staff at d'Youville Pavilion for their special care of Chester.  Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice of Lewiston were incredible and a source of great comfort and support to Chester and Anita.  A special thank you to Caley Allen, of Harpswell, for her kind devotion to Chester and Anita. 

Funeral Notice

DULAC, Chester, 92, of Lewiston, died in Lewiston on April 18, 2014. At Chet's request there will be a private service for family at St. Peter's Cemetery.  Donations in Chester's memory may be made to the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, Development Office, 15 Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston, Maine 04240.
