Georgette B. Feely, 1920 - 2016

Feely Obit Pic

Georgette B. Feely, 95, formerly of Boston Avenue, Lewiston, died Wednesday, November 2, at  Schooner Estates in Auburn, where she resided for over six years. She was born in Lewiston, November 17, 1920, the daughter of Eugene and Annette (Chatel) Cloutier. She was educated in a Canadian convent until she was twelve, and then attended Lewiston public schools. On November 28, 1942, she married Joseph Feely and raised five children during their 56 years of marriage. During the 1970s, she worked for the Lewiston School Department’s lunch program, and also worked at the Lewiston polling sites during elections. She enjoyed 60 plus years of boating and fishing at the cottage she and Joe built at Basin Cove, South Harpswell. That included hauling the boat, children, dog, chickens, and roosters back and forth from Lewiston to Harpswell. As a member of St. Patrick’s Church, she and her husband sang with the church choir. This is where their traveling adventures began with a trip to Rome, Italy to perform at the Vatican for Pope Paul the VI. In the late 70’s, she and Joe started touring the country by motorcycle. They had many memorable trips on the Moto Guzzi, even going to the big motorcycle rally in Laconia, NH. After they both retired, they traveled all around the world. When she was not traveling, and after Joe’s death in 1998, she joined the Ladies Sodality and volunteered her time at St. Vincent de Paul, where she made several new friends. She was an asset to all her children, helping them out whenever they needed it and earned the first dollar from United Piping and Welding for that generosity. She is survived by one brother, Raymond Cloutier, of New Mexico; one son, Joseph Feely, Jr. and his wife Kathryn, of Turner; four daughters, Joline Feely Pons and her husband Mike, of Titusville, Florida; Susan Graham, of Orange Park, Florida; Patricia Langelier, and her husband Raymond, of Turner; and Kathleen Feely, of South Harpswell; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
