Hectorette “Peggy” Tardif, 1923 - 2015

Hectorette “Peggy” Tardif, 91, of Lewiston, died Thursday, November 5, 2015, at the d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Lisbon on December 2, 1923, she was the daughter of Jules and Irma Chouinard Hamel. In 1950 she married Rosaire G. Tardif in Lewiston, and they celebrated with a Red Sox game in Boston. They made their home on Grove Street in Lewiston. After their kids were grown, they moved to Rochester, NH, for several years, until his passing in 1978. After her husband’s death, Peggy moved back to the local area, and lived in the Lake Auburn Towne House for many years. Prior to her retirement, she worked for several local business, including the Bate’s Mill and Knapp Shoe. She served as a foster grandparent in Auburn for over twenty years. Peggy treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren, and also enjoyed camping, Beano, playing cards, and especially poker nights with her family. Survivors include a son, Michael and wife Kathleen of Poland, two daughters, Sandra Tardif Verrill of Auburn, and Doris “Dottie” and husband John Inman of California, MO, a sister, Lila and husband Ed Maselek of South Paris, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. 



Funeral Notice


TARDIF, Hectorette, 91, of Lewiston, died in Lewiston on November 5, 2015. Visitation will be held at the Albert & Burpee Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 9 - 11 AM, followed by a Liturgy of the Word service at 11 AM. Interment, St. Anne’s Cemetery, Lisbon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the charity of your choice.
