J. Paul Hebert, 1923 - 2016

J. Paul Hebert, 92, formerly of 45 Loring Avenue, Auburn, died Saturday, June 4, 2016, at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough, where he had been a resident for the past five years. Born in Auburn on June 11, 1923, he was the son of Jean Baptiste and Gabrielle Fournier Hebert. Educated locally, he was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. On June 2, 1947, he married the former Madeleine Perron, and they made their home in Auburn. Mrs. Hebert passed away on June 10, 2005. He worked as an electrical supplies salesman of many years, first for Lewiston Hardware and later for Hall & Knight. A member of the former St. Louis Church, he served as an Eucharistic Minister for many years, and was also active in the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing golf at Apple Valley Golf Course, and volunteered for Community Concepts. Survivors include two sons, Thomas of Lexington, SC, and Peter and wife Margaret of Hingham, MA, two daughters, Anne and husband Paul Laliberte of Cape Elizabeth, and Judith Hebert of Windham, five grandchildren, Peter Laliberte, Beth Reynolds, and Michael, Daniel, and Brian Hebert, and six great-grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Maurice Hebert, and a sister, Beatrice Lenhert. The family would like to thank the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough for the loving care they gave him over the past five years, especially Margaret, Doug, and all the staff of Unit A. 

Funeral Notice

HEBERT, J. Paul, 92, formerly of Auburn, died in Scarborough on Saturday, June 4, 2016. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, 10m - 11 AM, followed by a Liturgy of the Word service at 11 AM. Interment, St. Peter’s Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to the Maine Veterans Home - Scarborough, 290 US Route 1, Scarborough, ME 04074.
