John G. Koris, 1962 - 2017

John Gerald Koris from Leeds passed away at home on July 22, 2017 with his family by his side. He was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s in 2014. John was born February 6, 1962 to Anthony and Billie (Doucette) Koris of Rumford. He was married to the love of his life Carol Ann (Boucher) Koris in 1984 and together they have one son Jacob Boucher Koris. John has three siblings, David Koris and spouse Molly (Burke) Koris from North Carolina; Dawn (Koris) Nash and spouse Steve Nash from Turner; and Tasha Koris from New Hampshire. He also leaves behind his father in-law and mother-in law Richard and Bernice (Morin) Boucher and brother in-law Jeffrey Boucher along with many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. John grew up in Rumford, graduated from Rumford High School in 1980 and went on to college at the University of Maine Orono for Civil Engineering. He worked for Bridge Construction and later went on to Technical Services Inc.. While working there he obtained his Professional Engineering license. He also had started his own company Land Resource Engineering. His final position was at Pike Industries where he worked for nearly 20 years. John was a member of many organizations including the State of Maine Professional Engineers, Maine Aggregates Association, American Society of Civil Engineers, Westbrook/Gorham Chamber of Commerce, Westbrook Rotary Club, Associated General Contractors, Maine Better Transportation Association, and the Rumford Elks Club. He was also a Notary Public. John enjoyed an active life.  If he wasn’t working he was spending time with family and friends playing basketball, golfing, snowmobiling, skiing, fishing, swimming and ice fishing. He truly loved his friends and family. They visited him throughout his journey and would take John for rides, visits, tell stories, or take him out to eat.  You know who you are and he was very thankful. John would always feel so much better after each visit. We want to thank the GoFundMe page started by John’s Angels for John’s Journey. It helped to lessen the cost for the family as he was kept home and cared for until the end. Special thanks to Richard and Bernice Boucher for their extensive help over these past couple of years. Thank you to all the friends who have visited John over the past three years. That meant so much to him and his wife as it made him feel he was not forgotten.  Also special thanks to the Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, Dr. David Burke, Dr. Pamela Wansker and Dr. James Cogan.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the East Auburn Baptist Church, 560 Park Avenue, Auburn on Saturday, July 29 at 10:00am.  In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory can be made to Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, 15 Strawberry Ave, Lewiston; or East Auburn Baptist Church Building Fund, 560 Park Ave, Auburn.
