Lorraine P. Groves, 67, of Hogan Road Lewiston, died Friday, February 14, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn following a 23 year battle with breast cancer.  Born in Lewiston on August 1, 1946, she was the daughter of Fernand and Lucielle Levasseur LaRochelle. She was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of ’64 and from the Maine School of Practical Nursing in Waterville, Class of ’66. Over the years she worked at St. Mary’s Hospital, the Lewiston-Auburn Kidney Center, Central Maine Medical Center, and Bell Label. She retired from the Bates College Bookstore in 2012 due to her illness. Lorraine was an inspiration to others who are fighting cancer. She adored her two grandchildren and loved attending their activities. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Arizona, gardening, going to the ocean, going to events at Bates College, and spending time with family and friends.  Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Fox Woodard and her husband Jon Woodard of Greene, a son Derek Fox of Lewiston, a sister Dolores and her husband Raymond Sarette of Enfield, NH, a brother, Daniel and wife Susan LaRochelle of Monmouth, two grand children, Alexandria Woodard and Cameron Woodard of Greene, nephew Tyson LaRochelle, niece Mariah LaRochelle, along with many other nieces and nephews and her first husband Russell and wife Jacqueline Fox of Lewiston. She was predeceased by her second husband, Robert E. Groves who passed away on October 21, 1996. The family would like to thank Dr. Nicholette Erickson, the staff on M1 at CMMC and at The Hospice House, Elaine Hackett, Jean Lessard, Rachel Cote, Claire Lavallee, along with so many  other caring friends, family, and neighbors who helped Lorraine throughout her illness. 



Funeral Notice


GROVES, Lorraine, 67, of Lewiston, died in Auburn on February 14, 2014. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, from 6 - 9 PM. Services will be Friday, 11 AM, at the Bates College Chapel, followed by a reception in the Bates Commons, Room 221-222. Interment will be in the Spring at Pine Street Cemetery, Auburn. Donations may be made in her memory to Camp No Limits, 265 Center Road, Wales, ME 04280.
