Lucien A. Lagace, 1927 - 2015

Lucien A. Lagace, 88, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, 2015, with family at his side at Russell Park Rehabilitation & Living Center.

He was born in Lewiston on March 18, 1927, a son of J. Alfred and Rose Ilda (Lepage) Lagace.  Lou graduated from Lewiston High School and served in the United States Army, being stationed in Italy for two years. Upon discharge, he attended Portland Technical School.  He founded, owned, and operated Lucien Lagace's Decorating Service in the Lewiston-Auburn area. He was highly regarded for his work, and his motto of "If it's worth doing, it's worth doing well" was manifested in all that work.

He was instrumental in the founding of the Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop 160, where he served as Committee Chairman and Assistant Scoutmaster.  He received the Founder's Award from the Holy Family Parish Troop 160.

A member of the Worship and Spirituality Committee of Holy Family Church, he served as head Eucharistic minister as well as in many other parish functions.  Upon his retirement, he became an acolyte at funerals.  In the last few years, he was a collector at the Lower Chapel of Ss. Peter & Paul Basilica.

Lou was an avid gardener and a bass fisherman.  He followed Bible study courses and enjoyed historical novels.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Claire Malo of Lewiston;  a brother, Rene, of Lewiston;  a sister, Irene Lamontagne, living near Randolph Center, Vermont; two sons: Paul and wife Robin of Wilmington, Massachusetts;  Dan and wife Elyse of Voluntown, Connecticut;  and many special and caring nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and their children.

Funeral Notice

LAGACE, Lucien, 88, of Lewiston, died in Lewiston on December 25, 2015. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM. Services will be Tuesday, 11 AM, Holy Family Church. Interment, St. Peter’s Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to the Holy Family Choir, c/o Prince of Peace Parish, P.O. Box 1540, Lewiston, ME 04241-1540.
