Monique G. Tardif, 1936 - 2014

Tardif Obit Pic

Monique G. Tardif, 78, died peacefully on October 29, 2014 after Alzheimer’s slowly took her away from us. She was born on February 5, 1936 to Amedee & Genaise Gervais Dion in Lewiston, ME. She graduated from St. Dominic High School in 1953. Monique met Gilles P. Tardif at St. Dom’s, and they were married February 12, 1955.  She was employed at Household Finance until they moved to Massachusetts, and they lived up and down the east coast, where their four children were born and she was a stay-at-home Mom. In 1973, Monique was hired as the Office Manager at Skate 3 in Tyngsboro, MA, until her retirement in 2001.  Monique & Gilles retired to Freeport, ME and became members of St. Jude’s Church. Her faith and the parishes she belonged to were very important to her. Her hobbies were reading, knitting, ceramics, attending ballets and sporting events that her children and grandchildren were involved in. Along with her husband Gilles, she is survived by her children, Suzanne  & her husband Kevin Mager of Derby, VT, Michael Tardif of Toronto, Canada, Michele and her husband John Fodero of Jericho, VT, and Gerard Tardif of Hudson, MA. She is also survived and proud of her grandchildren; Patrick Mager and his fiancé Bridget Dailey, Matthew Mager and his fiancé Sara Artus, Jason, Michael and Elise Tardif, Anna and John Fodero and Attalissa, Connor & Eliza Tardif. Her only sibling, Pauline (Jo) Albright of New York, NY, and 2 nieces and their families. We would like to thank the staff and nurses who took care of Mom at The Sarah Frye Home and D’Youville Pavilion, 3 East. You are truly angels on earth.
