Pauline M. Rodrigue, 1941 - 2015

OBIT Pic

Pauline M. Rodrigue, 73, of Lewiston, died Monday morning, March 23, 2015, at home, surrounded by her family, after a brave battle with cancer. She was born in Lewiston on December 13, 1941, a daughter of Leo and Bernadette Gelinas Fournier. She graduated from St. Dominic High School, Class of ’60, and was a life-long resident of Lewiston. On November 19, 1960, she married Robert A. Rodrigue, also of Lewiston. Together, they had three children, Patricia, Rachel and Geoffrey. Pauline was known as an efficient hard worker, having many careers including bank teller for two local banks, office assistant at W.D. Mathews, Home Interior Displayer, and Postal Worker in Auburn and Sabattus. After retiring from the USPS in 2003, she worked part time for Hallmark Greeting Cards, a job she enjoyed immensely, and continued after her cancer diagnosis. After retiring, Pauline started making quilts, a hobby she had wanted to learn for a long time. She made beautiful quilts as gifts for family and friends, but she also donated numerous quilts, each lovingly made with her personal signature, to raise money for cancer research. She also loved to collect and use vintage sewing machines. She enjoyed her winter home with her husband in Zephyrhills, Florida for the last 10 years. She leaves behind her husband Robert (Bob) of 55 years; two daughters, Patricia Rodrigue and her husband Warren Evans of Windham, Rachel Nadeau and her husband James of Lewiston; and her son Geoffrey, and his wife Desiree Portner of Richland Hills, Texas; her sisters Rita Carroll of Auburn and Priscille Allard of Durham; and her brother Marcel Fournier of Aurora Colorado; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents. Pauline’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Hematology and Oncology Associates, Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice, and the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing.
