Rene Yvon Moreau, 93, former resident of 64 Wood Street in Lewiston and a resident of Schooner Estates in Auburn for the past two years, died Thursday, August 20, 2015, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn. Born in Lewiston on February 6, 1922, he was the son of Yvon and Virginie Albert Moreau. Educated in local schools, he was a veteran of World War II,  serving with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater. After the war he returned to Lewiston, and on November 22, 1947, he married the former Rose Ratte. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing sports, including tennis, hockey and football. He loved to read, especially scientific journals and books, and was especially interested in anthropology, astronomy, and technology. Rene was a “giver,” of both his time and attention, and will be remembered for always being a gentleman. Survivors include his wife, Rose of Auburn and formerly of Lewiston, two sons, Marc and wife Juliet of Penn Valley, PA, and Guy of San Francisco, CA, a daughter, Anne Moreau Burg, of Lewiston, a sister, Lucille Fraser of Auburn, four grandchildren; Michelle, Aimee, Joseph and Thomas Burg, and a great-grandson, Henry Stutzman-Burg. 


Funeral Notice


MOREAU, Rene, 93, of Auburn and formerly of Lewiston, died in Auburn on August 20, 2015. A private memorial will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in his memory to Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, Hospice House Fund, 15 Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston, ME 04240, or to the charity of your choice.
