Richard P. Maurer, 1929 - 2017

Richard Paul Maurer, 88, died peacefully October 15 in the presence of his family in Lewiston, Maine. He is survived by his children Anthony, Richard Jr., and Teresa and their spouses, 7 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, 2 sisters and a brother. One of 8 children of Leroy and Mildred Maurer, Richard was born February 2, 1929, in East Longmeadow, MA and raised in Springfield. He graduated from Cathedral High School and attended the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, FL; where he met his future wife, Nancy N Dick of Salt Lake City, Utah. They married in 1954 and raised their family in Wilbraham, MA. Richard retired from Monsanto Company and moved to St. Helena Island, SC where he continued with his art,  He and Nancy were members of Lady's Island Country Club and the Tansi Village community. Following Nancy's death in May, Richard spent the summer at his daughter's home in Maine. He will be missed by his family and friends. If desired, please make memorial contributions to the Shiner's Hospitals for Crippled Children.
