Rolande Griffin, 81, of Lewiston, died Saturday, July 13, 2013, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice Services in Auburn, surrounded by her family.  Born in Saint Samuel, Canada, on May 2, 1932, she was the daughter of Arthur and Aldina Talbot Montambeault.  After the death of her parents, she was brought to Lewiston at age seven and raised at St. Joseph’s Orphanage (formerly the Marcotte Home).  On November 25, 1950, she married Lionel H. Riendeau of Brunswick, who passed away in 1962.  On June 17, 1967, she married her beloved second husband, Martin Griffin, of Quincy, Massachusetts.  A veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, Mr. Griffin passed away in 1988. A self-described “home body,” Rolande was a meticulous homemaker, an avid reader and a consummate chef.  On those rare occasions when she did venture beyond her neighborhood, she was a bargain hunter without equal. A member of Holy Family Church, Prince of Peace Parish, she is survived by her three children, Michael Riendeau and wife Helen of Berwick, Joanne Bartlett and husband Charlie of Auburn and Mark Griffin of Lewiston.  She is also survived by two grandchildren, Ryan Riendeau of Lewiston and Sara Newman and husband Wallace, of Virginia Beach, VA, as well as one great-grandchild, Jaydon L. Riendeau of Auburn.  Rolande is also survived by her two sisters, Martha Boucher and husband Raymond of Leicester, MA, and Alice McMahon of North Oxford, MA, and several nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by three brothers: Wilbrod, Henri and Renee Montambeault and four sisters, Ernestine M. Dubois, Yvette M. Baillargeon, Helene M. Boulay and Gabrielle Montambeault. Rolande was deeply appreciative of the loving support and assistance that she received from her niece, Jacqueline Sawyer of Lewiston and her great niece, Lisa Buck, of Hanover.  Outside of her family, she enjoyed spending time with her devoted friends, Claire Rouillard and Yvonne West of Lewiston and Blanche LeCompte of Englewood, FL.  Rolande was very grateful for the expert care provided by her Nurse Practitioner Nan Boucher and oncologist Yelena Patsiornik, M.D., of St. Mary’s Medical Center.  Her family wishes to acknowledge the outstanding staff of hard-working professionals at the Androscoggin Hospice House.
