Romeo E. Poulin, 1925 - 2016

Romeo E. Poulin, 90, servant of God, husband, and father, passed on at his home in Auburn on February 2, 2016, surrounded by his wife and family. Romeo was born in Lewiston on March 28, 1925, the son of Arestide and Adrienne Bilodeau Poulin, and raised in Lac Megantic, P.Q. Canada. In 1943, after Primary School, Romeo entered the religious community of Cleric St. Viateur in Joliette, P.Q., where he received training in electrical, drafting, and building construction. In 1950 he was assigned to a school and mission in Kyoto, Japan, where he served as construction foreman and vocational teacher. He returned to Lewiston in 1964 and worked as an electrician for Diamond Machine for 25 years, and then worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart for 13 years before fully retiring. On November 25, 1965, he married the love of his life, the former Agathe Plourde of Lewiston. Active in scouting for over 25 years, Romeo was a volunteer adult leader with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, Pack 116, and was awarded the BSA St. George Medal, Silver Beaver Medal, and Wood Badge awards. He was also an active 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 12652. A devoted member of Holy Cross Church, Prince of Peace Parish, he served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Cantor, and in the choir. Besides his loving wife of 50 years, Agathe of Auburn, he is survived by two sons, Michael and wife Laurie of Middletown, RI, and John and wife Amy of Lisbon Falls, three grandchildren, Max, Rachael, and Ross, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins in Canada. The family would like to thank Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice Services, especially Tammy, Michelle, Angela, and Rev. Bradford. We are forever grateful to you.


Funeral Notice

POULIN, Romeo, 90, of Auburn, died in Auburn on February 2, 2016. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 PM. Services will be Saturday, 9 AM, Holy Cross Church. Interment, St. Peter’s Cemetery. Donations may be made in his honor to Prince of Peace Parish, P.O. Box 1540, Lewiston, ME, 04241-1540, or to Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice Services, 15 Strawberry Ave., Lewiston, ME 04240.
