Rosaire J. Dostie, 1923 - 2016

Rosaire J. Dostie, 92, of Greene, Maine, peacefully passed away on March 20, 2016, at the Hospice House in Auburn, surrounded by his loving children.  He was born in Lewiston on May 13, 1923, the son of Dolor and Mary Ann Lajoie Dostie.  Educated in the Winthrop school system, He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the US Navy from December 7, 1942 to December 28, 1945. On January 29, 1949, he married the love of his life, Julie Allaire, together they raised 5 children.   Before his retirement he worked at Eastern Die and Tambrands. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying archery, hunting, fishing, beekeeping, gardening and woodworking.   He enjoyed spending time with his family, and his grandchildren always brought smiles to his face. He was a very religious and spiritual person, and was a very active member of the Prince of Peace Parish.   He had great devotion to the Virgin Mary and a very special place in his heart for Saint Padre Pio. Survived by his brother Joseph Dostie of Sebring, FL, two sons, David Dostie and wife Marie, and Steven Dostie and wife Chris; two daughters, Mary Ann MacDonald and husband Jack, Beth Higgins and husband Dan; six grandchildren Christopher Dostie and wife Amy, Kathleen de Silva and husband Joe, Nicholas MacDonald, Marina Turmelle and husband Kyle, Zachary Noyes, Jacob Noyes and wife Nichole; six great-grandchildren James Dostie, Gabrielle de Silva, Juliette de Silva, Bryce Turmelle, Charlie Noyes, Ellie Noyes; over 100 nieces and nephews, and many cherished friends. He was predeceased by his wife Julie Allaire Dostie; son Mark Dostie; parents Dolor Dostie and Marie Ann Lajoie; Siblings Sister Cecilia Dostie RSM, Clara Rheaume, Dolores Kepchar, Elizabeth Dostie, Francis Dostie, Gerard Dostie, Leo Dostie, Mathilda Poulin, Robert Dostie, Rose Rousseau, and several infant siblings. His family wants to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.  Special thanks to the amazing staff and volunteers at the Androscoggin Hospice House.

Funeral Notice

Dostie, Rosaire, 92, of Greene, died in Auburn on March 20, 2016. There will be a Rosary Service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 4:30 PM, followed by visitation from 5 - 8 PM. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, 11 AM, Holy Family Church. Interment in the spring, Valley Cemetery in Greene. Donations may be made in his memory to Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, Hospice House Fund,  15 Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston, ME 04240.
