Gee Obit Pic

William Colby Gee, son of the late William A. and Madeline Carr Gee, died at home on June 25, 2017. Bill was born on August 26, 1935 in Wellington, Maine. He attended schools in Harmony, Maine, prior to moving to Lewiston, where he graduated from Lewiston High School. Bill married the late Arlene Olivier Gee in June, 1954. Seven years later, they purchased their first home and welcomed their daughter, Carol Ann Gee. Bill met his current wife, Sherri through their connection in law enforcement. They began dating in 1992 and married in January 2003 at their newly purchased log home in Minot. Bill furthered his education at the University of Maine at Augusta, earning a degree in Criminal Justice. He joined the Lewiston Police Department, serving as a patrol officer, detective, school resource officer, sergeant, and eventually retiring from the force in 1995 at the grade of lieutenant, after 28.5 years of service. While on the LPD, Bill pursued his interest in polygraph science and graduated from the Backster School of Lie Detection in New York City. After retirement, Bill worked as an instructor of criminal justice at Oxford Hills High School. He also worked at Aubuchon Hardware Store, where he was fondly recognized by many in the community through his work on the LPD. Bill ended his work career as a Maine Deputy Marshall in the court system in 2012, after five years of service. While many of his friends were Boston Red Sox fans, Bill was a loyal and avid fan of the New York Yankees throughout his entire life. He treasured memories of attending games at Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park, and the Rogers Centre in Toronto. He also enjoyed attending Sea Dogs games at Hadlock Field. Bill’s hobbies included reading and playing golf with his favorite partner, the late Roy Perham. He was a wonderful handyman, as well, completing renovations on his daughter’s home for months before he felt she could move into the house. Bill was also musical theatre enthusiast and was a season ticket holder at Maine State Music Theatre. He was able to see shows in Portland, Boston, and New York City, as well. Among his favorites were Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables. Bill was immensely proud of his daughter and her accomplishments and she was equally proud of her father. She was able to rely on his guidance and love throughout her life and will be forever grateful for him being her dad. One of Bill’s greatest passions was his dogs. MacDuff, Brandy, and Duffey moved on to the Rainbow Bridge. Kalley, his Old English Sheepdog, adored him. Bill was also quite enamored with smaller breeds and treasured Maple, his Yorkie, and his most recent acquisition, Fergus, a Shorkie-poo. Bill also had a great love for cars; one of his favorites being his Mazda RX-7.  Bill is survived by his wife, Sherri, of Minot, his daughter, Carol, of South Portland, his stepson Glenn Brooks, of Lewiston, his honorary son Dan Bussell of Connecticut, his sister Mary Gee Tripp of Biddeford, his brother and sister-in-law Jim and Gloria Eldridge of New Hampshire, along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
